Anna Salai, Chennai's most iconic thoroughfare, is set to witness a monumental transformation with the construction of Tamil Nadu’s tallest and swankiest building, Brigade Icon Residences, developed by Bengalurubased Brigade Group.

This architectural marvel will stand 150 metres tall and is poised to become a new landmark for the city.

Located close to LIC Building, which once held the title of the tallest structure in the area and was a significant tourist attraction, Brigade Icon Residences will revive Anna Salai’s prominence in a few years’ time.

The 'Brigade Icon' project will feature two distinct towers - one ground plus 38 floors - dedicated to luxurious residential apartments and the other 15-16 floors for retail and hospitality purposes in a 100-m tall tower.

The 3-decade old Brigade Group has announced a substantial investment of over Rs 8,000 crore in Chennai by 2030, aimed at expanding its footprint in the city This ambitious plan includes a diverse portfolio of projects spanning residential, office, retail, and hospitality sectors, covering over 15 million square feet. The Gross Development Value (GDV) of the residential projects alone is estimated to exceed Rs 13,000 crore.

She noted the strong demand across hese sectors and the posiive impact Brigade’s proj ects will have on Chennai's lifestyle and infrastructure.

“The company has already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Tamil Nadu Government for four projects, with approvals currently in process as part of the Global Investors Meet in January this year,” she said.

Brigade Icon Residences is designed to be a mixeduse development, seamlessly integrating residential, retail, and office spaces, thereby setting a new benchmark in urban living. The project boasts a design by the globally renowned SOG Design based in Singapore.

The residential tower will feature 38 floors, offering luxurious three, four, and five-bedroom apart ments starting from 2,500 square feet, with a GDV of over Rs 1800 crore. The design reflects Chennai’s evolving cultural identity, blending contemporary aesthetics with the city’s rich heritage.

We have tried to follow all the green norms including net Zero energy, net zero water and adopting renewable energy initiatives taken up in the projects,” she said. “We will also launch a resort property in East Coast Road and another hotel in Chennai,” she revealed. The hospitality sector is booming after a bit of a slowdown following covid and the company is looking to take advantage of the boom, she added.
